How to Choose your class -
With so many female classes out there how do you know which one is for you? Well there is 2 main considerations here where you want to belong and where your body wants you to go.
Firstly go see a show, see what classes you like the look of remember its your body so its up to you, how much muscle you want to hold, how lean you want to get and what poses you like the look of the most.
Once you have an idea of the different classes talk to your coach they should have a very good idea where you currently fit or will for best based on your genetics and level of muscularity you currently hold. Then where you go from there is up to you and how long you're willing to weight before stepping on stage. for example if your coach said bikini but you really wanted to do figure it doesn’t mean you can it just means you may need a little longer in the gym before you get there or alternatively you do a season in bikini then do a long off season and aim for figure.
Some classes are more genetic than others for example wellness as you need a smaller clavicle, naturally wide shoulders will make you look too balanced in wellness and you also just need genetically great legs! I also think as we see the fit model class evolve this will be quite a genetic base class potentially as they want a softer look all round but for some females there upper can come in really hard before they start to loose much off their legs at all, but as a developing class of course this is just a theory currently.
Your body will always just have a class it sits in best based purely on genetics so by going with that you will undoubtably do better however its also not the be all and end all as its your body and its up to you how you want that body to look, do you want the big legs in wellness or do you want the balanced look in bikini? My biggest advice would be to work with your genetics though.
once you know what class you want to be heading into your training program and timeline can be then created to reflect that, for example how a figure athlete trains will be different from a bikini athlete and a wellness athlete would be different again there really is no one size fits all approach in bodybuilding!
