30 Things in Bodybuilding I learnt before turning 30

Okay so thats is a long tittle and also quite the challenge I have set myself of thinking of 30 things as I write this because as much as I know there has defiantly been more than 30 things, I now need to think of them… so here goes

  1. It really is always just you against you stop worrying about the placing.

  2. focus always on bringing the look you love then find a fed that likes that look don’t force yourself in a box you don’t want to fit into.

  3. Nobody cares, it may seem on insta that everyone is watching you but trust me no one cares they will have soon moved onto the next thing soon do this for you and stop worrying about outside noise.

  4. You can’t BS your way out of dieting or training you have to stick to the plan and you have to work hard and if you don’t, it will show it really is that simple.

  5. It doesn’t matter what weight you lift if you're doing it wrong you wont grow.

  6. No amount of drugs will make up for poor work effort.

  7. Accept that your genetics will play a factor in how far you can go and play to them.

  8. You can compete naturally and you can do untested feds naturally as well and go far.

  9. Take photos show day, show weekend, on the hard days and in off season, as you will always wish you had taken more.

  10. Nobody should be weight training 6 days a week.

  11. Understand what your body can recover from and work with it not against it.

  12. Nutrition will make or break a physique both in prep and off season you can have off plan meals and food but know the limit and eat to fuel and recover.

  13. If it’s too good to be true it probably is there is no magic pill or magic prep formula for this only hard work and consistency.

  14. If you’re offered sponsors make sure your values and morals align with theres even if there products look good, work with who you believe in, don’t be a sell out.

  15. If the timing isn’t right, the timing isn’t right theres always next year.

  16. Watch who’s clapping for you when you're not winning as well as when you are thats who really cares.

  17. Do the inner work, whatever that looks like to you, yoga, manifesting, journaling, therapy the inner work will help the outside look more than you realise.

  18. Don’t fall for ‘you just don’t want it enough’ mindsets or influencers everyone is in a different position, and everyone is giving it there all.

  19. Save up this is an expensive hobby.

  20. Get outside for walks and see the sunlight don’t do steps only on a treadmill.

  21. Prioritise sleep

  22. Don’t do anything purely because you see someone on instagram do it chances are they didn’t.

  23. Practice your posing every single day.

  24. Get the right heels for your posing and the right trainers for your lifting.

  25. Learn how your body moves and what feels good when training.

  26. Take your health seriously and get your bloods ran even if it cost money your health is worth it.

  27. Never quit on the hard day, sleep on it, take some time and then make a choice 99% of the time you will keep going.

  28. You will meet both the best and the worst people in this sport have both open arms and cautious mind.

  29. Support each other no body is really your competition.

  30. Enjoy every moment, its a privilege to be able to do bodybuilding and that could get taken away at any time, I know that sounds cheesy but I know it from experience, so trust me on that one.
