Are you missing this training trick?
In body building the training really is the most important piece in the puzzle but with preps focusing on cardio, posing, PEDs, steps and nutrition I think sometimes people just forget how to train effectively.
One thing I try to be hot on with clients is training footage, I want to see training sessions and top sets so we can make sure training is not only effective for you but also being performed in a way that is targeting the intended muscle and not causing potential injury
I ask clients to send me training videos every week and we do a full training analysis every few months where we work on a traffic light system. each exercise is filmed and sent over to me with a little note on where the client feels it working how they find it and how they progress in this movement we then colour code each one.
Green - form and tempo are perfect feel the exercise well no change needed
Amber - form may be off a little or tempo or not quite feeling it. we adjust the movement where necessary and film again see if the changes help or if not we move to the red pile we may do this 2-3 times if its a movement that is usually strong.
Red - movement causes pain or client is not able to connect well or progress on. This is then swapped for another movement that may be similar to work the same muscle/ muscle group this is then filmed and sent over for analysis too.
This process is what allows my athletes to continue progressing at a good rate and building good amounts of muscle throughout each phase of their journey.
Training also needs to be with intent, yes we want to feel that muscle working yes we want tempo and form correct but then we also want to be able to move up to a place where we are able to hit failure with each set too, you are not going to grow unless you push past the pain and to the point your muscles cant push any more as this is where they grow, and its easy to see, the biggest women and men in the gym train the hardest, fact.
So don’t neglect your training, don’t skip your sets, train hard and train heavy…
